The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.25.12

दिग्दलाष्टकविश्रान्तससुराम्भोधिषट्पदाम् ।
भ्रातृभिर्नवभिर्भूपैर्नवधा परिकल्पिताम् ॥ १२ ॥

digdalāṣṭakaviśrāntasasurāmbhodhiṣaṭpadām |
bhrātṛbhirnavabhirbhūpairnavadhā parikalpitām || 12 ||

It contains nine varshas or divisions, which are ruled by nine brother kings, resembling the regents of its eight petalled sides, with the Bharata-varsha in the midst.
