The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

प्रक्षीणवासना निद्रा तुर्यशब्देन कथ्यते ।
जाग्रत्यपि भवत्येव विदिते परमे पदे ॥ ७ ॥

prakṣīṇavāsanā nidrā turyaśabdena kathyate |
jāgratyapi bhavatyeva vidite parame pade || 7 ||

Again the sleep which is wholly devoid of desire, is designated the turiya or the fourth stage of yoga, and which in the waking state is called samadhi or union with Supreme.
