223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.22.5

येयं तु जीवन्मुक्तानां वासना सा न वासना ।
शुद्धसत्त्वाभिधानं तत्सत्तासामान्यमुच्यते ॥ ५ ॥

yeyaṃ tu jīvanmuktānāṃ vāsanā sā na vāsanā |
śuddhasattvābhidhānaṃ tatsattāsāmānyamucyate || 5 ||

The desire of living-liberated men (jivan-muktas), is not properly any desire at all, since it is the pure desire relating to universal weal and happiness.
