The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स विप्रस्तस्य शैलस्य सानौ सरलशाद्वले ।
कदाचिदुपविष्टः सन्ददर्शाधो महीपतिम् ॥ ५ ॥

sa viprastasya śailasya sānau saralaśādvale |
kadācidupaviṣṭaḥ sandadarśādho mahīpatim || 5 ||

This Brahman had been sitting once under the shady sarala trees, on the table land of his native hill, when he saw the ruler of the land, passing with his gaudy train below.
