The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
अभूदस्मिन्महीपीठे कुलपद्मो विकाशवान् ।
पद्मो नाम नृपः श्रीमान्बहुपुत्रो विवेकवान् ॥ १९ ॥
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
abhūdasminmahīpīṭhe kulapadmo vikāśavān |
padmo nāma nṛpaḥ śrīmānbahuputro vivekavān || 19 ||
Vasishtha said:—There lived of yore a prince on the surface of the earth, whose name was Padma from his being like the blooming and fragrant lotus of his race; and who was equally blessed with wisdom, prosperity and good children.
