The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

परमाकाशमेवादौ जीवतां चेतति स्वयम् ।
निःस्पन्दाम्भोधिकुहरे सलिलं स्पन्दतामिव ॥ २ ॥

paramākāśamevādau jīvatāṃ cetati svayam |
niḥspandāmbhodhikuhare salilaṃ spandatāmiva || 2 ||

The primeval vacuous soul is awakened at first of itself, and by its own energy from its quietness, and begins to have a motion in itself like the troubled waters of the deep.
