The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

येन जिघ्रति तद्घ्राणं स स्वमात्मनि पश्यति ।
तत्तस्य स्वदनं पश्चाद्रसना चोल्लसिष्यति ॥ ३० ॥

yena jighrati tadghrāṇaṃ sa svamātmani paśyati |
tattasya svadanaṃ paścādrasanā collasiṣyati || 30 ||

The organ of smelling is the nose said:—ghrana from its bearing the scent—ghrana to the soul; and that of taste is named as tongue rasana, for its conducting the rasa taste or flavour to the spirit.
