The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.9.19

बिभ्रज्जलानलाकारं ज्वलति द्रवति द्रुतम् ।
चन्द्रोऽमृतं प्रसवति मृतं हालाहलं विषम् ॥ १९ ॥

bibhrajjalānalākāraṃ jvalati dravati drutam |
candro'mṛtaṃ prasavati mṛtaṃ hālāhalaṃ viṣam || 19 ||

It takes the forms of fire and water and burns and melts in them by itself. It sheds ambrosia in the form of the moon, and causes death in the shape of poison.
