The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.9.16

सूर्यो भूत्वा प्रतपति विष्णुः पाति जगत्त्रयम् ।
रुद्रः सर्वान्संहरति सर्गान्सृजति पद्मजः ॥ १६ ॥

sūryo bhūtvā pratapati viṣṇuḥ pāti jagattrayam |
rudraḥ sarvānsaṃharati sargānsṛjati padmajaḥ || 16 ||

It shines forth in the form of the sun, and preserves the world in the manner of Vishnu. It creates the world in the shape of the lotus-born Brahma, and destroys all as Rudra or Siva.
