The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.7.17

ज्ञायते परमात्मा चेद्राम दुःखस्य संततिः ।
क्षयमेति विषावेशशान्ताविव विषूचिका ॥ १७ ॥

jñāyate paramātmā cedrāma duḥkhasya saṃtatiḥ |
kṣayameti viṣāveśaśāntāviva viṣūcikā || 17 ||

If the Supreme soul be known to us, O Rama! the string of our woes is put to an end, like the fatal cholera after termination of its choleraic pain or extraction of its poison.
