Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स्रवन्ति सिकतास्तैलं पठन्त्युपलपुत्रिकाः ।
गर्जन्ति चित्रजलदा इतीवेदं वचः प्रभो ॥ ७२ ॥

sravanti sikatāstailaṃ paṭhantyupalaputrikāḥ |
garjanti citrajaladā itīvedaṃ vacaḥ prabho || 72 ||
