The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

संविन्मात्रस्वभावत्वाद्देहोऽहमिति चेतति ।
काकतालीयवद्भ्रान्तमाकारं तेन पश्यति ॥ ३८ ॥

saṃvinmātrasvabhāvatvāddeho'hamiti cetati |
kākatālīyavadbhrāntamākāraṃ tena paśyati || 38 ||

Being of the nature of intelligence it is imperishable; but those who view the spirit in the form of any phenomenal body, are liable to perish with it like all embodied beings.
