223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.1.25

न च तर्कभरक्षोदैर्न तीर्थनियमादिभिः ।
सतो दृश्यस्य जगतो यस्मादेति विचारकाः ॥ २५ ॥

na ca tarkabharakṣodairna tīrthaniyamādibhiḥ |
sato dṛśyasya jagato yasmādeti vicārakāḥ || 25 ||

It is not to be obtained by sophists by the chopping of logic or by pilgrimage or ceremonial acts, any more than by a belief in the reality of the phenomenal world.
