The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यो यो येन गुणेनेह पुरुषः प्रविराजते ।
शिष्यते तं तमेवाशु तस्माद्बुद्धिं विवर्धयेत् ॥ २ ॥

yo yo yena guṇeneha puruṣaḥ pravirājate |
śiṣyate taṃ tamevāśu tasmādbuddhiṃ vivardhayet || 2 ||

Whatever man excels in any quality here, he becomes distinguished by it: therefore learn it from him, and improve your understanding by the same.
