The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

एकदेशसमर्थत्वादुपमेयावबोधनम् ।
उपमानं करोत्यङ्ग दीपोऽर्थप्रभया यथा ॥ ६६ ॥

ekadeśasamarthatvādupameyāvabodhanam |
upamānaṃ karotyaṅga dīpo'rthaprabhayā yathā || 66 ||

The compared object is to be understood in its capacity of admitting a partial comparison (of the properties); as in the instance of sense and light, the simile consists in the brightness of both.
