The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.18.37

अहं जगदिति प्रौढो द्रष्टृदृश्यपिशाचकः ।
पिशाचोऽर्कोदयेनेव स्वयं शाम्यत्ययत्नतः ॥ ३७ ॥

ahaṃ jagaditi prauḍho draṣṭṛdṛśyapiśācakaḥ |
piśāco'rkodayeneva svayaṃ śāmyatyayatnataḥ || 37 ||

The ego and the non-ego, that is, the viewer and the view, are both but chimeras of the imagination, and it is their annihilation alone, that leads insensibly to the vision of the soul.
