The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.16.35

पुरुषयत्नजवेन मनोवने शुभतटानुगतां क्रमशः कुरु ।
वरमते निजभावमहानदीमहह तेन मनागपि नोह्यसे ॥ ३५ ॥

puruṣayatnajavena manovane śubhataṭānugatāṃ kramaśaḥ kuru |
varamate nijabhāvamahānadīmahaha tena manāgapi nohyase || 35 ||

Now try by degrees with all the exertion of your manly force, to turn the course of your desires towards the happy shore in the forest of your mind; and know, O high-minded Rama; that one's own disposition is as a rapid current to him, which must not be permitted to bear him away.
