The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.15.1

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
संतोषो हि परं श्रेयः संतोषः सुखमुच्यते संतुष्टः परमभ्येति विश्राममरिसूदन ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
saṃtoṣo hi paraṃ śreyaḥ saṃtoṣaḥ sukhamucyate saṃtuṣṭaḥ paramabhyeti viśrāmamarisūdana || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—Contentment is the chief good; contentment is called the (true) enjoyment; and the contented man, O thou destroyer of enemies, gets the best repose.
