The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

मोहेन बन्धुनाशेषु संकटेषु शमेषु च ।
सर्वं व्याप्तं महाप्राज्ञ विचारो हि सतां गतिः ॥ ४ ॥

mohena bandhunāśeṣu saṃkaṭeṣu śameṣu ca |
sarvaṃ vyāptaṃ mahāprājña vicāro hi satāṃ gatiḥ || 4 ||

O wise Rama! our understandings are shrouded under unconsciousness at the loss of our friends, at times of danger, and even of quiet. It is reason that is our only companion.
