The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.11.58

नित्यं सज्जनसंपर्काद्विवेक उपजायते ।
विवेकपादपस्यैव भोगमोक्षौ फले स्मृतौ ॥ ५८ ॥

nityaṃ sajjanasaṃparkādviveka upajāyate |
vivekapādapasyaiva bhogamokṣau phale smṛtau || 58 ||

It is by association with good people that we can gain wisdom, which resembles a tree yielding the fruits both of enjoyment and liberation.
