The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

बीभत्सं विषयं दृष्ट्वा कौ नाम न विरज्यते ।
सतामुत्तमवैराग्य विवेकादेव जायते ॥ २३ ॥

bībhatsaṃ viṣayaṃ dṛṣṭvā kau nāma na virajyate |
satāmuttamavairāgya vivekādeva jāyate || 23 ||

Seeing the obnoxiousness of worldly things, what man will not grow averse to them? The best displacency to them, is what rises in the mind of one from his own judgement.
