The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स्पन्दास्पन्दसमाकारात्ततो विष्णुरजायत ।
स्यन्दमानरसापूरात्तरङ्गः सागरादिव ॥ १२ ॥

spandāspandasamākārāttato viṣṇurajāyata |
syandamānarasāpūrāttaraṅgaḥ sāgarādiva || 12 ||

From him who remains the same (unaltered being) in his rest and motion, the great Vishnu was born, like a moving wave on the quiet waters of the sea.
