The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

समता सांत्वनेनाशु न द्रागिति शनेशनेः ।
पौरुषेणैव यत्नेन पालयेच्चित्तबालकम् ॥ ३३ ॥

samatā sāṃtvanenāśu na drāgiti śaneśaneḥ |
pauruṣeṇaiva yatnena pālayeccittabālakam || 33 ||

The training of the child like that of the mind, is effected slowly by gentleness and indulgence, and not by force and hurry.
