The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.7.31

पौरुषेण जिता दैत्याः स्थापिता भुवनक्रियाः ।
रचितानि जगन्तीह विष्णुना न च दैवतः ॥ ३१ ॥

pauruṣeṇa jitā daityāḥ sthāpitā bhuvanakriyāḥ |
racitāni jagantīha viṣṇunā na ca daivataḥ || 31 ||

It was by means of his activity that Vishnu had conquered the demons, and established the order of the world. It was by this that he created the worlds none of which could be the work of fate.
