The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.7.12

अशुभेषु समाविष्टं शुभेष्वेवावतारयेत् ।
प्रयत्नाच्चित्तमित्येष सर्वशास्त्रार्थसंग्रहः ॥ १२ ॥

aśubheṣu samāviṣṭaṃ śubheṣvevāvatārayet |
prayatnāccittamityeṣa sarvaśāstrārthasaṃgrahaḥ || 12 ||

This is the long and short of all the Sastras, that diligence preserves our minds from all evils, by employing them to whatever is good and right.
