Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.6.19

द्वयोरद्यतनस्यैव प्रत्यक्षाद्बलिता भवेत् ।
दैवं जेतुं यतो यत्नैर्बालो यूनेव शक्यते ॥ १९ ॥

dvayoradyatanasyaiva pratyakṣādbalitā bhavet |
daivaṃ jetuṃ yato yatnairbālo yūneva śakyate || 19 ||

Of these two powers that of the present state is manifestly superior to the other; hence it is as possible to overcome the past by the present, as to lick a boy by an adult.
