The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.6.8

यदेकवृन्तफलयोरथैकं शून्यकोटरम् ।
तत्र प्रयत्नः स्फुरितस्तथा तद्रससंविदः ॥ ८ ॥

yadekavṛntaphalayorathaikaṃ śūnyakoṭaram |
tatra prayatnaḥ sphuritastathā tadrasasaṃvidaḥ || 8 ||

As of two fruits growing on the same fore-stalk, the one is found to be empty within and the other full of juice, so the fruit of fate is rendered abortive by that of manliness.
