The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

मनसा वाञ्छते यच्च यथाशास्त्रं न कर्मणा ।
साध्यते मत्तलीलासौ मोहनी नार्थसाधनी ॥ २ ॥

manasā vāñchate yacca yathāśāstraṃ na karmaṇā |
sādhyate mattalīlāsau mohanī nārthasādhanī || 2 ||

Whoever wishes to do anything desirable to him by unlawful acts, it becomes as fruitless as the endeavours of a madman.
