The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

ज्ञेयं यावन्न विज्ञातं तावत्तावन्न जायते ।
विषयेष्वरतिर्जन्तोर्मरुभूमौ लता यथा ॥ ९ ॥

jñeyaṃ yāvanna vijñātaṃ tāvattāvanna jāyate |
viṣayeṣvaratirjantormarubhūmau latā yathā || 9 ||

As there grows no vegetable in a sterile soil, so there grows no disinclination to worldliness, until one comes to know the knowable reality.
