Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

नातः परतरः कश्चिन्निश्चयोऽस्त्यपरो मुने ।
स्वयमेव त्वया ज्ञातं गुरुतश्च पुनः श्रुतम् ॥ ३५ ॥

janaka uvāca |
nātaḥ parataraḥ kaścinniścayo'styaparo mune |
svayameva tvayā jñātaṃ gurutaśca punaḥ śrutam || 35 ||

Janaka replied: "There is nothing more certain, O sage! than what you have known by yourself and heard from your father.
