Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

वसिष्ठविश्वामित्राद्यैर्मुनिभिः संसदि स्थितैः ।
जयन्तधृष्टिप्रमुखैर्मन्त्रिभिर्मन्त्रकोविदैः ॥ ५ ॥

vasiṣṭhaviśvāmitrādyairmunibhiḥ saṃsadi sthitaiḥ |
jayantadhṛṣṭipramukhairmantribhirmantrakovidaiḥ || 5 ||

There were Vasishtha and Viswamitra with other sages, and the prime minister Jayanta and other counsellors (of the king) then seated in that assembly.
