The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

क्रूरे कृतान्तमार्जारे सर्वभूताखुहारिणि ।
अश्रान्तस्यन्दसंचारे कुतोऽप्युपरिपातिनि ॥ ५ ॥

krūre kṛtāntamārjāre sarvabhūtākhuhāriṇi |
aśrāntasyandasaṃcāre kuto'pyuparipātini || 5 ||

How can we fly from the clutches of cruel Fate, who like a cat kills the living as poor mice, and falls unwearied and unexpectedly upon his prey in the twinkling of an eye.
