The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

नावस्थितिमुपायाति न च याति यथेप्सितम् ।
चिन्ता जीवेश्वरायत्ता कान्तेव प्रियसद्मनि ॥ ६ ॥

nāvasthitimupāyāti na ca yāti yathepsitam |
cintā jīveśvarāyattā kānteva priyasadmani || 6 ||

Human thoughts are linked to the animal soul as consorts to their lords. They can neither sit idle nor ramble at liberty, but must remain as wives under the control of their husbands.
