The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

भज्यते भुवि मर्यादा झटित्येव दिनं प्रति ।
शुष्केव माषशिम्बीका टङ्कारकरवं विना ॥ ४ ॥

bhajyate bhuvi maryādā jhaṭityeva dinaṃ prati |
śuṣkeva māṣaśimbīkā ṭaṅkārakaravaṃ vinā || 4 ||

I see honour is eaten up every day by mutual altercations of men, using harsh words to each other as they crack the nuts under their teeth.
