The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

कालः क्रीडत्ययं प्रायः सर्वमापदि पातयन् ।
हेलाविचलिताशेषचतुराचारचञ्चुरः ॥ ४२ ॥

kālaḥ krīḍatyayaṃ prāyaḥ sarvamāpadi pātayan |
helāvicalitāśeṣacaturācāracañcuraḥ || 42 ||

Time is a skilful player and plays many parts with ease; but he is chiefly skilled in tragedy, and often plays his tragic part in the affairs of men.
