The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 1.28.35

अशूरेण हतः शूर एकेनापि हतं शतम् ।
प्राकृताः प्रभुतां याताः सर्वमावर्त्यते जगत् ॥ ३५ ॥

aśūreṇa hataḥ śūra ekenāpi hataṃ śatam |
prākṛtāḥ prabhutāṃ yātāḥ sarvamāvartyate jagat || 35 ||

It happens sometimes, that an impotent man slays a hero, and that hundreds are killed by one individual; so also a commoner becomes a noble man, and thus every thing is changeful in this varying world.
