The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आयुरत्यन्तचपलं मृत्युरेकान्तनिष्ठुरः ।
तारुण्यं चातितरलं बाल्यं जडतया हृतम् ॥ ९ ॥

āyuratyantacapalaṃ mṛtyurekāntaniṣṭhuraḥ |
tāruṇyaṃ cātitaralaṃ bālyaṃ jaḍatayā hṛtam || 9 ||

Life is very unsteady. Death is very cruel. Youth is very frail and fickle, and boyhood is full of dullness and insensibility.
