Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 1.23.32

न खिद्यते नाद्रियते नायाति न च गच्छति ।
नास्तमेति न चोदेति महाकल्पशतैरपि ॥ ३२ ॥

na khidyate nādriyate nāyāti na ca gacchati |
nāstameti na codeti mahākalpaśatairapi || 32 ||

Hundreds of great kalpa ages (of the creation and dissolution of the world) may pass away, yet there is nothing that can move eternity to pity or concern, or stop or expedite his course. It neither sets nor rises.
