The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

सुनिर्मलापि विस्तीर्णा पावन्यपि हि यौवने ।
मतिः कलुषतामेति प्रावृषीव तरङ्गिणी ॥ १८ ॥

sunirmalāpi vistīrṇā pāvanyapi hi yauvane |
matiḥ kaluṣatāmeti prāvṛṣīva taraṅgiṇī || 18 ||

As a clear, sacred and wide stream, becomes muddy in the rains, so doth the mind of man however clear, pure and expanded it may be, gets polluted in his youth.
