The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तिर्यग्जातिसमारम्भः सर्वैरेवावधीरितः ।
लोलो बालसमाचारो मरणादपि दुःखदः ॥ ५ ॥

tiryagjātisamārambhaḥ sarvairevāvadhīritaḥ |
lolo bālasamācāro maraṇādapi duḥkhadaḥ || 5 ||

The acts of a boy are as those of young animals, that are always restless and snubbed by every body. Hence boyhood is more intolerable than death itself.
