The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अपि मेरुसमं प्राज्ञमपि शूरमपि स्थिरम् ।
तृणीकरोति तृष्णैका निमेषेण नरोत्तमम् ॥ ५० ॥

api merusamaṃ prājñamapi śūramapi sthiram |
tṛṇīkaroti tṛṣṇaikā nimeṣeṇa narottamam || 50 ||

Penury has the power of bemeaning the best of men to (the baseness of) straws in a moment, notwithstanding their wisdom, heroism and gravity in other respects.
