The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

सर्वेषां जन्तुजातानां संसारव्यवहारिणाम् ।
परिप्रोतमनोमाला तृष्णा बन्धनरज्जुवत् ॥ ३४ ॥

sarveṣāṃ jantujātānāṃ saṃsāravyavahāriṇām |
pariprotamanomālā tṛṣṇā bandhanarajjuvat || 34 ||

Penury which seems to gird the breasts of worldly people with chains of gems and jewels, binds them as beasts with halters about the necks.
