The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 1.14.18

प्रस्नुवानैरविच्छेदं तुच्छैरन्तरवासिभिः ।
दुःखैरावृश्च्यते क्रूरैर्घुणैरिव जरद्द्रुमः ॥ १८ ॥

prasnuvānairavicchedaṃ tucchairantaravāsibhiḥ |
duḥkhairāvṛścyate krūrairghuṇairiva jaraddrumaḥ || 18 ||

As the withered tree is perforated by minutest worms residing in them, so are our bodies continually wasted by many inborn diseases and noxious secretions.
