The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 1.13.9

प्राज्ञाः शूराः कृतज्ञाश्च पेशला मृदवश्च ये ।
पांसुमुष्ट्येव मणयः श्रिया ते मलिनीकृताः ॥ ९ ॥

prājñāḥ śūrāḥ kṛtajñāśca peśalā mṛdavaśca ye |
pāṃsumuṣṭyeva maṇayaḥ śriyā te malinīkṛtāḥ || 9 ||

As brilliant gems are soiled by dust, so are the learned, the brave, the grateful, the mild and gentle, corrupted by riches.
