The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 1.8.21

स एव रामो भवता नीयते राक्षसान्प्रति ।
यदि तत्पुत्रहीनं त्वं मृतमेवाशु विद्धि माम् ॥ २१ ॥

sa eva rāmo bhavatā nīyate rākṣasānprati |
yadi tatputrahīnaṃ tvaṃ mṛtamevāśu viddhi mām || 21 ||

This Rama is going to be conveyed by thee against the Rakshasas; but when I am deprived of that son, know me certainly for dead.
