इत्युक्ते मुनिनाथेन संदेहवति पार्थिवे ।
खेदवत्यास्थिते मौनं किंचित्कालप्रतीक्षणे ॥ १ ॥

The king was thrown into sorrow and suspense at these words of the prince of sages (Vasishtha); but kept his silence for sometime, and waited.
