The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अस्मिन्नर्थे पुरावृत्तमितिहासं वदामि ते ।
कारुण्याख्यः पुरा कश्चिद्ब्राह्मणोऽधीतवेदकः ॥ ९ ॥

asminnarthe purāvṛttamitihāsaṃ vadāmi te |
kāruṇyākhyaḥ purā kaścidbrāhmaṇo'dhītavedakaḥ || 9 ||

I will recite to you an instance on this subject from the old traditions, relating a Brahman named Karunya, who was learned in the Vedas in days of yore.
