Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.14.71:
तथा विनेषिपुत्राभ्यां पुत्रीयायां क्रियान्तरम् ।
अन्वाख्यानाय भेदास्तु सदृशाः प्रतिपादकाः ॥ ७१ ॥tathā vineṣiputrābhyāṃ putrīyāyāṃ kriyāntaram |
anvākhyānāya bhedāstu sadṛśāḥ pratipādakāḥ || 71 ||71. Similarly, from the word putrīyati that is, in putrīya) a particular action is understood without the help of parts like iṣi and putra. For the purpose
of grammatical derivation, meaningful parts similar to independent words are postulated.
Commentary
[To explain putrīyati by bringing in the root √iṣ and its object putra is only for the sake of grammatical derivation. They do not exist.]
