The Vaisheshika-sutra 7.1.19, English translation, including commentaries such as the Upaskara of Shankara Mishra, the Vivriti of Jayanarayana-Tarkapanchanana and the Bhashya of Chandrakanta. The Vaisheshika Sutras teaches the science freedom (moksha-shastra) and the various aspects of the soul (eg., it's nature, suffering and rebirth under the law of karma). This is sutra 9 (‘what measure or extension is eternal’) contained in Chapter 1—Of Colour, Taste, Smell, and Touch, and Magnitude—of Book VII (of the examination of attributes and of combination).

नित्ये नित्यम् ॥ ७.१.१९ ॥

nitye nityam || 7.1.19 ||

nitye—in the eternal; nityaṃ—eternal.

Is then minuteness, inhering in ultimate atoms, destroyed, as are Colour, etc., of terrene ultimate atoms? Is magnitude also, inhering in ether, etc., destroyed, as are Sound, Understanding, etc.? In anticipation of these objections, he says:

Measure or Extension which exists in eternal substances, e.g., ether, etc., and also in the ultimate atoms, is eternal since there is nothing to destroy it.—19.
