The Vaisheshika-sutra 2.2.13, English translation, including commentaries such as the Upaskara of Shankara Mishra, the Vivriti of Jayanarayana-Tarkapanchanana and the Bhashya of Chandrakanta. कार्यविशेषेण नानात्वम् ॥ २.२.१३ ॥
kāryaviśeṣeṇa nānātvam || 2.2.13 ||
kārya-viśeṣeṇa—owing to difference or distinction of effects; nānātvam—multiplicity or diversity.
13. The diversity (of Space) is due to the difference of effect—92.

It may be asked, “If Space is only one, how then can there be its cognition and use as ten quarters or directions?, So ho says:—

The meaning is that the attribution of multiplicity is due to the divergence of effects.—13.
